BENTON, IL (KFVS) - A doctor from Energy, Illinois faces several counts of obstruction of justice, illegal dispensation of controlled substances, and witness tampering.
Dr. Sukhdarshan S. Bedi, 55, and his three clinics face 12 counts. Bedi's clinics are Marion Family Healthcare, Harrisburg Family Healthcare and Galatia Medical Center.
Heartland News found Bedi's Marion office closed down on Tuesday.
The United State's attorney's office alleges Bedi and those in his three clinics illegally gave out Methadone and Oxycodone.
Bedi is charged with two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of tampering with witnesses, a count of false statements, five counts of illegal dispensation of controlled substances (Methadone, Oxycodone and Methylphenidate), a count of conspiracy to illegally dispense controlled substances, and one count of health care fraud.
Each of the clinics face a count of conspiracy to illegally dispense a controlled substance and a count of health care fraud.
If found guilty Bedi faces more than 20 years in prison and several fines.
