CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) - An arrest warrant has been issued for the mother of a two-year-old assault victim who died Thursday, according to Pemiscot County Lt. Ryan Holder.
Holder said authorities know where the mother is, but she is not yet in custody. Her name will not be released until an arrest is made and formal charges are filed.
The woman's daughter died Thursday at Lebonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, according to a hospital spokesperson. The mother's boyfriend, Matthew Dylon Talyor, 23, commonly known as "D.T.," was arrested Wednesday after investigators responded to a home near Pascola in which a caller reported the child was not breathing.
Prosecuting Attorney Mike Hazel will file murder charges against Taylor, Holder said.
Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell said the child's mother initially told investigators she and her daughter were involved in a four-wheeler wreck earlier Wednesday morning. However, Greenwell said an investigation revealed Taylor struck the girl twice.
