A man is put into a Mississippi County Sheriff's Department car after hiding in a fieldMISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. - (KFVS) According to the missouri highway patrol, two men are in custody following an early morning high speed chase.
The patrol says around three Monday morning a truck with four people inside crashed. They are not saying where this crash happened.
The patrol says the two men and two women in the truck got out and set it on fire.
The patrol says all four of them somehow got into a silver Ford Taurus and took off. There's no word on where the Taurus came from.
According to the highway patrol, the four were later pulled over near the Bertrand exit on Interstate 57. That's when the two women got out saying they were injured from a crash. The two men stayed in the Taurus and took off with deputies chasing them.
The highway patrol says the chase went through Scott, New Madrid and Mississippi Counties for about an hour.
The chase came to an end around 4:30 a.m. when spike strips were put across county road 408 in Mississippi County just south of Bertrand.
Allegedly the driver of the Taurus swerved to miss the strips, went hard into the ditch blowing out the radiator. The driver then got back on the road and kept driving. Eventually he swerved off into a field where the car eventually came to a stop.
The driver stayed with the car and was arrested but the passenger ran - only to be tracked down by a police dog and arrested.
So far, no names are being released by the sheriff's department.
