WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - West Frankfort Police Chief Jeff Tharp has named the second person of interest being sought in connection with Tuesday's double homicide in West Frankfort.
Tharp identified the suspect as 19-year-old Afton D. Ferris. Ferris, previously only known as "Afton," and 30-year-old Michael Anthony Schallert, also known as "Mexican Mike," are originally from the Cheyenne, Wyoming, area, and recently located to West Frankfort, Tharp said.
According to Tharp, Schallert and Ferris are believed to have stolen a vehicle belonging to one of the victims. The vehicle is a tan 2003 Chevrolet Impala with Illinois plates G893-639.
The victims were identified as Kandis Majors, 28, and Terri Seibeck, 32. Both were found dead in a home at 213 North Douglas Street Monday afternoon.
Carol Kesler, an aunt of one of the victims, told Heartland News she stopped by the home at 213 North Douglas after making some deliveries, where she found blood on the door. She said she called police because she knew something was wrong.
Investigators arrived and found the bodies of Majors and Seibeck on the floor in the front room of the house.
Another aunt, Debbie Aaron, isn't clear as to what led to the homicides. "All we know is she had kicked her roommate out, some guy and his girlfriend," Aaron said.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the West Frankfort Police at 618-937-3502.
