Carter & Wayne Counties dealing with flash flooding Friday morning

Posted: Updated:

CARTER & WAYNE COUNTIES, MO (KFVS) - High water has uprooted some trees in the Van Buren area Friday morning.

A dispatcher with the sheriff's department says one of those trees fell across J Highway and blocked traffic. The tree has since been cleared from the road.

Also in Van Buren, a tree limb snapped and fell across old Highway 60 in the middle of town. This limb has also been cleared from the street.

A sheriff's department deputy also says creeks in rural areas of Carter County are at their limits.

In Wayne County a sheriff's department deputy says water is over V Highway near Piedmont. The Wayne County Sheriff's Department also expects to find more flooded roads at daylight.
