SESSER, IL (KFVS) - It was a wild afternoon for officers in Sesser, Illinois Sunday after police say a drunk man with a gun fired 21 shots out of an apartment window, and refused to surrender to police.
It happened just before 3 p.m.
Sesser Police Chief Robert Barrett tells Heartland News it happened in the 100 block of East Franklin Avenue.
The Main Street area was evacuated.
Several agencies responded to assist Sesser Police, and the Illinois Tactical Response Team was called as the suspect refused to surrender.
But, before the team arrived the suspect did come out without incident.
Reginald Williams, 21, who just moved to the Mount Vernon area from Texas, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
Chief Barrett says more charges could come.
The gun was stolen from a local residence.
No one was hurt, but there is some property damage in the area from all the shots fired.
