By Heartland News JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A hiking adventure turns into a search and rescue operation in Jackson County. A Murphysboro man, his 13-year-old daughter and his 9-year-old niece are safe Monday morning after getting lost in the Little Grand Canyon in southern Illinois. The family of 42-year-old John Bizzell called police when it became dark Sunday evening and the three had not returned home from a hiking trip. Jackson County sheriff's deputies, firefighters and forest service agents began searching for the lost hikers. Crews finally found the three around 8:30 last night atop a small bluff. No one was hurt and members of the search team assisted them out of the hiking area. Copyright 2009 KFVS. All rights reserved.
