PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah daycare owner has been arrested on a warrant accusing her of third-degree criminal abuse.
According to police, Tanashea Young, owner of Children's Creative Learning Center at 135 Memorial Drive, admitted leaving a three-year-old child asleep inside a daycare van while the van was being serviced at Paducah Ford.
Police said the incident occurred last week, and that Young, 42, was arrested after being interviewed Monday.
The incident occurred after Young picked up several children at their school and dropped off all but one at her daycare, police said. An investigation shows Young then took the van with the child inside to Paducah Ford.
While being serviced, the van was lifted approximately six feet off the ground for about 30 minutes with the child was inside, Paducah police said.
According to police, Young told investigators she knew the child was asleep on the van.
The child’s mother found out about the incident when she arrived at the daycare and found one of her children was not there. A daycare worker called Young, and the mother picked her child up from Young at Paducah Ford, police said.
Young was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail in lieu of $250 bond.
