MARION, IL (KFVS) - A Williamson County judge sentenced a Marion man to 50 years in prison after he shot his wife and a Marion police officer in September.
Harry Schauf's wife now says she thinks his sentence is unfair.
"It was a lot of stuff that was not brought up in trial that judge and the jury did not get to hear. It is just sad. I love my husband," Tina Pickens said.
Schauf is already in his 60s.
A jury found Schauf guilty of four felony charges, including two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm back in September.
Schauf shot his wife, 35-year-old Tina Pickens, in September of 2008. He then shot and severely wounded Marion Police Officer Steve Cannon.
Meanwhile the Williamson County Assistant State's Attorney on this case tells Heartland News she believes the sentence was appropriate and justice has been served.
