BENTON, IL (KFVS) - The death penalty against a woman accused in the double murder of two West Frankfort women.
Afton Ferris is accused in the deadly slaying of 32-year-old Terri Seibeck and 28-year-old Kandis Majors.
Ferris appeared in court for a preliminary hearing 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Benton, Illinois courthouse. It will be continued on Friday when two death penalty certified attorneys can take over. Under Illinois law, death penalty cases require a pair of defenders certified for these type of cases.
Ferris and Michael Schallert, who is also accused in the double murder case, were arrested in Colorado about a month ago.
