CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Update: Power has since been restored.
Some folks are starting off Christmas Day in the dark.
Ameren has a number of power outages in both Missouri and Illinois.
Most of them are in southern Illinois. According to Ameren's website there are about 7,071 customers without electricity in Southern Illinois.
Most of those customers are centered around Harrisburg but there are also people without power in Eldorado, Raleigh and the Pinckneyville area.
According to the Saline County Sheriff's Department customers in that area can expect to be without power until about 5:00pm.
In Missouri there are about 336 customers without electricity. They are in an area north of Cape Girardeau and Scott City.
No word on when they can expect their power to return.
