11 Dogs Found Shot, Dead in a Creek
By: Heartland News
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - The McCracken County Sheriff found 11 pit-bull carcasses in Clarks River off of Bryant Ford Road Thursday morning.
Sheriff Jon Hayden says the department received a call about two weeks about of dead pit-bulls being thrown off the bridge over Clarks River. The department found one or two carcasses at that time.
The bridge on Bryant Ford Road crosses the Clarks River which is close to the Graves County line near Symsonia.
Sheriff Hayden says there were fresh blood smears on the bridge and the bridge's railing.
All of the carcasses except for two appeared to have been killed and thrown off the bridge within the past 24 to 48 hours, according to the sheriff. Each of the animals had been shot in the head with a single shot. Sheriff Hayden says the carcasses of three males exhibited signs of recent dogfighting. The sheriff says the rest of the dogs were females and most likely used for breeding. None of the animals had been implanted with the computerized identification chips.
There is a $2500 reward for an arrest and conviction for Cruelty to Animals. There's $5000 reward an arrest and conviction for Dog Fighting.
