YourTurn - 9/7/09

Watch for YourTurn normally scheduled to air at the end of Heartland News at Noon on Mondays and Fridays, at the end of Heartland News at 10:00 on Saturday nights, and following The Breakfast Show on Sunday mornings.

Dorothy Moody from Piggott, Arkansas:
"I enjoy Mike Smythe's ViewPoint very much.  His statements are to the point and very informative.  Even though I may disagree sometimes, I get a good chuckle and sometimes a real good laugh.  Keep up the good work."

Jean LaGois from Cape Girardeau:
"(Regarding Mike's Smythe's ViewPoint on drug advertising), the doctor I used prescribed Lipitor and I told him I had trouble with my liver.  I guess he didn't check and I almost died, but a different doctor saved my life...whenever a doctor prescribes a new medication I always question him to be sure that it won't harm me."

John Bissey from Herrin, Illinois:
"Social Security is only hurting because our politicians have stolen the pension of every hard working American.  Social Security has nothing to do with the baby boomers retiring...Hogwash!  Quit taxing us to the hilt and put our Social Security money back where it belongs."

Dr. Dorothy Munch from Poplar Bluff, Missouri:
"I appreciated Mike Smythe's ViewPoint on the pharmaceutical companies advertising to the lay public.  However, I disagree.  Generally, the result of lay advertising is the spending of more healthcare dollars for medications that offer no better efficiency and no fewer side effects.  After being ‘lobbied' by the pharmaceutical companies, patients come in asking for expensive new medicines.  Once an idea is planted it's difficult to dissuade patients."
