HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - The Harrisburg School Board unanimously called for the resignation of Todd Fort from school board president during a special meeting Tuesday night, according to Superintendent Dennis Smith.

The 42-year-old school board president was arrested on July 20 and faces four counts of sexual assault involving a minor and four counts of official misconduct.

According to the arrest synopsis, the alleged 17-year-old victim told investigators she had sex 10 times with Fort at his home in Harrisburg. She says it all took place after she turned 17.  Court records also show the alleged victim told police Fort was her superior at the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Fort was elected to the school board in 2005.  He was elected school board president by his fellow board members in May 2007 and has been president ever since.

The Saline County Sheriff says Fort worked for the sheriff's department for 21 years.  He has been a chief deputy since December 2006.

Fort was stripped of his title and placed on unpaid administrative leave Thursday by the Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown.
