CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO  (KFVS) -If you're a loyal Does it Work watcher, then you might remember four years ago when Airwick launched an automatic air freshener. It promised to blast poofs of air every few minutes, keeping your room smelling fresh all the time. We found it worked, but now, like most things, it's time to get even more hi-tech. Once the new Airwick iMotion detects movement, it sprays freshener. Question is: why would you need a motion sensor on an air freshener?

Stacy Stapleton agreed to answer that for us by trying this in her home. You can set this to spray every 9, 18 or 36 minutes. Plus, it's supposed to adjust itself through the motion sensor., determining if there's too much or too little freshness going on.

We find the motion sensor definitely works, maybe even a little too well.

"There's a lot of motion in a classroom."

Sure is, and we will also test this in Stacy's home but also her 3rd grade classroom at Jefferson Elementary. Her students have been busy charting their findings these last few weeks. After all, the freshener says it can last up to 60 days.

They got used to it the smell and found the iMotion really did adjust itself.  It didn't spray each time someone walked by, and it distributed the right amount of freshener.

"It's very busy in here. It was not distracting at all," said Stacy Stapleton, teacher.

"It smells pretty good and isn't much money," said one student.

"I probably would use it here," said Stapleton.

According to their scientific research, the class agrees the lavender smell isn't their favorite, but the product works. However, half didn't like the price. It's $10 for the start up kit and $5 for scented refills.

"I'd give it a 'C'. It does work. You just have to find the right smell. To me, it's kind of expensive," said Stapleton.

Fair enough...the iMotion seems to self-adjust, sometimes releasing a little too much scent, but in all, earns a satisfactory C+ on this Does it Work test.
