PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) -It was just about seven months ago when these students in Chaffee helped test the Big Top Cupcake. Now, here comes the Big Top Donut. Students at St. Vincent de Paul in Perryville helped test this time.

The third graders dump in all the ingredients for your basic yellow cake mix into the donut molds we lightly greased. When we're done, our donuts should turn out cake-style and giant, but not without breaking a few rules in the kitchen that might get us in trouble with at least one mom!

"She never lets me do lick the bowl!" said one student.

Back to baking. after 20 minutes, we rotate the batter and continue. We're making a chocolate donut with sprinkles just like the box shows. Well...it should be.

"Obviously it needed more spray. This can all be fixed with icing!" said teacher Stacy Triller.

Our Big Top Donut looks more like a big top volcano!  Here's the problem. We followed the directions, but should have added more cooking spray so it wouldn't stick. We'll admit we could've waited a bit longer for this to completely cool. As you can imagine, this doesn't matter at all to these 19 third graders.

"I like the sugar!" said one student.

"Eating donuts make me hyper and it drives my mom insane!" said another.

Well, this mess might drive any mom insane. So, I'd say let the donut cool even longer than the box directions say and then, just go with it.

Gabriel  said, "It's good. It doesn't matter it's not shaped like a donut."

"What a great way to get kids in the kitchen with you," said teacher Stacy Triller.

"I'd give it a B+ or an A-," said Gabriel the student.

I'm going with the lower grade. This product can't have its cake and eat it too on my test! After all, it's $20, and let's face it. You could create your own big donut with a regular Bundt pan. Still, it's a finger-lickin', lip smackin' good time. We sprinkle the Big Top Donut with a good B+ on this Does it Work test.
