HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - More than two months after Todd Fort's attorney announced he would resign as president of the Harrisburg School Board, a letter making the resignation official finally arrived.

According to Superintendent Dennis Smith, that letter came in the mail Monday.

Smith says Fort apologized for losing a previous resignation.

The school board is expected to accept that resignation at the scheduled meeting Tuesday night.

Fort faces 10 counts of sexual assault and official misconduct.  He retired from the sheriff's department in August.

Voters will elect someone to finish out Fort's term as president.  The vice president has been serving as interim.
