Watch for YourTurn normally scheduled to air at the end of Heartland News at Noon on Mondays and Fridays, at the end of Heartland News at 10:00 on Saturday nights, and following The Breakfast Show on Sunday mornings.
Heartland Viewer C. Wayne:
"(Regarding Mike Smythe's ViewPoint on 18-20 year olds owning handguns) he has based his decision on the disproportionate amount of gun violence in that age group. How many of those would have passed a background check? Probably not very many…it all comes down to the person, not the age group. At 18 you can vote, sign up for the military, and die for your country, but you can't protect yourself from a criminal with a gun."
Elizabeth Turley from Sikeston, Missouri:
"Heard recently where a group of ‘concerned' citizens got 3,000 signatures on a petition to ban smoking in Cape. Guess that cuts out my shopping and eating in Cape. I am a smoker and not ashamed of it….statistics prove that as many people die from alcohol or alcohol related accidents. (We) hear of tragedies alcohol brings to the innocent. Sounds worse to me than smoking. Now let's deal with obesity. Ever trying sitting on a bleacher by an obese person? I did at the rodeo. They should have made that person buy two tickets…let's ban the sale of anything with sugar in it…I agree that cigarettes are harmful but not more than alcohol and sweets."
Lloyd Wisleder from Marion, Illinois:
"In regards to the smoking ban controversy in Missouri, I live in Illinois and am grateful everyday for the anti-smoking laws we have. I am a not-smoker. Whether to smoke or not is a choice. But breathing is not. EVERYONE can live without smoking. NO ONE can live without breathing."
