MOUNDS, IL (KFVS) -

Police were called to 131 South McKinley Avenue early Wednesday morning.

When they arrived on scene they found Joseph Jones, 28, of Mounds, dead on a yard.

Illinois State Police say Jones was shot and killed during a disturbance on the block around 12:30 a.m.

Police say Johnnie L. Hadley, age 24, of Jonesboro, Georgia, was arrested shortly after the shooting by Franklin County Deputies and Illinois State Police troopers.  Hadley is being charged with first degree murder, according to ISP Captain Scott Rice.

Earlier in the morning police had the whole block taped off and a large crowd had gathered at one end of the block. Many of them were yelling and asking police for information.

Illinois State Police, along with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department and Mounds Police Department are investigating this homicide.
