Watch for YourTurn normally scheduled to air at the end of Heartland News at Noon on Mondays and Fridays, at the end of Heartland News at 10:00 on Saturday nights, and following The Breakfast Show on Sunday mornings.
Heartland viewer Laura Climer:
(Regarding Mike Smythe's ViewPoint on prison costs) Release all that are in prison for minor (offenses) and keep the child molesters, serial killers, and the worst behind bars. The government is making a big mistake keeping (people) locked up when they have really not committed a horrible crime. They have (prisoners) in there for DUI's and non-payment of child support…some of the prisoners have gotten lost in the system…why not take those that are not the most dangerous and put them in the armed services? It makes a lot more sense to me."
A former Missouri Department of Corrections officer who asked not to be identified:
"I was trained as a utility officer to perform every duty within a prison institution. There is not enough incentive to prevent or make some offenders want to remain out of the prison system… (inmates) are offered medical care, educational opportunities, a complete library, (sports), and some rehabilitation opportunities…it was my ‘motto' that (prisons) needed to start rock factories, making gravel from huge rocks with hand tools as a means to reduce the rapid rate of recidivism…thanks to Mike Smythe and his ViewPoint on topics that truly affect the populace."
Mike Anderson from Poplar Bluff, Missouri:
"…every few years I see on the news, ‘floods destroy crop lands and cities drown under flood water.' Why not go back to the old Indian way? Plant your cities and homes on a mound if you are in a flood zone or on flat land…with global warming there are going to be more storms and (we can expect) even bigger ones."
