Say goodbye to sinking and getting stuck in the grass? Oh, and say hello to TV's Leeza Gibbons. "OK, my friend Leeza wears heels better than anybody I know" says KLTV's Joe Terrell. "I only wear them
But in a world where we encase our cell phones, our sunglasses - we even sell cases to cover our suitcases - do we really need cap covers for our high heels?

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - 'Try It Before You Buy It' is a new segment we'll be doing on WAVE 3 Sunrise and WAVE 3 News at 5:30 p.m. every Friday. I'll be testing those "As Seen on TV" products that promise to make our lives so much easier!

In our first segment, I test the 'Package Shark Pro'. This item is suppose to help you easily open those clamshell packages that so many items such as razors and kids toys come in these days. It also claims to make it much easier to open new CD & DVD packages.

So how often have you gone to the store, bought something you really wanted, were anxious to get it home and try it out only to find out you can't get the darn thing out of the package without risking cutting your finger off? 'The Package Shark Pro' promises to make that issue a thing of the past. It's supposed to cut through those packages like butter, without leaving you bruised from the E.R. bill. The big question is, does it work?

We put the 'Package Shark Pro' to the test. We find that the product has three settings for its cutting edge. The first setting is package, then CD and finally DVD. First we tried opening the package containing an 'Aluma Wallet', which we'll test next time.  We move the setting to 'package' and the tool does work as it claims in opening the hard plastic shell of a package with ease. However, you need to be careful of the sharp edges it leaves behind on the package.

Next we test the products promise to open CD's with ease. After adjusting the settings to 'CD' we try to open the packaging. Again, it works with ease to cut through the plastic shrink wrap and our CD package is open within seconds. Finally, we test the product on opening the packaging of a brand new 'DVD'. Again, we adjust the opener's settings to 'DVD' and wall ah! The 'Package Shark Pro' opens the packaging with no problem.

After all the tests are done,  it seems to do what it promises. So in the end, does it work? We'd say yes!
