PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A convenience store is shut down after a drug raid this morning.

According to the Paducah Police Department's Drug and Vice Enforcement Unit, police took a large amount of synthetic marijuana, bath salts, and drug paraphernalia from the Superway at 649 N. 8th St.

Police first received complaints about the sale of synthetic marijuana and other items at the store. An investigation led police to find the store was also selling balloons filled with nitrous oxide.

Yesterday, undercover detectives visited the store and found synthetic marijuana for sale and purchased a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana.

After serving a search warrant this morning, detectives notified the McCracken County Health Department of expired over-the-counter medications at the store. They also found food products such as eggs that had expired in June.

Detectives further contacted the city's Finance Department after determining that the store had been operating without a business license since at least 2005.

According to Sgt. Will Gilbert, the store will remain closed until it can obtain a business license.

No one has been arrested at this time. Charges are pending with the McCracken County Attorney's Office and the investigation is continuing.
