Say goodbye to sinking and getting stuck in the grass? Oh, and say hello to TV's Leeza Gibbons. "OK, my friend Leeza wears heels better than anybody I know" says KLTV's Joe Terrell. "I only wear them
But in a world where we encase our cell phones, our sunglasses - we even sell cases to cover our suitcases - do we really need cap covers for our high heels?
JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

"In the south, you'll see bags hanging up of pennies in it. They just swear by it. It keeps the flies away. I'm thinking Does it Work?"

Who better to help me test that then this group of local Girl Scouts?

They have the most-scientific control and experiment settings ready to go, as part of their recent day camp.

Emma Brenneke, a Girl Scout, said, "We are putting pennies in a bag. I don't know. We'll see what happens."

Common belief is there's something about the pennies and the way they reflect in the water. It supposedly scares the flies and their multitude of eyes. Right now though, this fly is eying the juicy watermelon. Keep in mind, the fly is sitting on the watermelon underneath the bag of pennies.

"I don't think it works," commented one scout.

Still, the scouts press on--not counting change, rather counting flies. Troop leader Jodie Rouse reminds them of factors to consider.

"There's the breeze, the sun, the electric, traffic. So, we're going to talk about the variables in the scientific process."

To be further sure, I asked a few girls to take the project home. I wanted to see if it made any difference hanging this indoors under a door frame. Turns out...it really didn't.

On scout is quick to tell me how frustrated her mom would be with this outcome.

"Because the flies would be on the food if she left food out. The flies would be all over it. A bag of water only attracts more flies."

Still, we know there are a lot of people who swear by this practice, and I guess no harm done! We're ready to tell this idea to buzz off, giving it a 'D' on this Does it Work test.
