It’s a heavily debated issue that will come to a vote on the August ballot. It’s called "Right to Farm" or Amendment 1.Many farmers say it would protect them from too much government regulation, but other locals say it would keep the government from protecting the environment.

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

A former Saline County chief deputy accused of sexual assault was in court Friday.

Todd Fort is accused of nearly two dozen charges which involved sexual assault and official misconduct charges.  He is accused of committing sexual acts with a 17-year-old girl.

The judge asked both sides Friday if they are ready to go to trial and both answered yes.

Fort's trial is set for Sept. 19 at 9 a.m. for the sexual assault count and official misconduct charges.

Fort was re-arrested back in September 2010. Court documents allege Fort violated a court order. State police originally arrested Fort in July 2010.  Theft was indicted on theft charges in January.

Fort worked for the sheriff's department for 21 years.  He was also president of the Harrisburg School Board. He later resigned from that position.
