SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A former Saline County deputy who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse charges involving a minor is being sued by the victim and her parents.  The Saline County sheriff, the Harrisburg school district and Saline County are also named in the suit.

The suit is seeking an amount in excess of $50,000 and a jury trial of six, according to court documents.

Former Saline County sheriff's deputy Todd Fort pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse as part of a deal with the state on September 16. Fort was accused of have a sexual relationship with a Bobbi Jo Carrigan, who worked at his office, starting when she was 16 years old.

The suit claims Fort was assigned to be Bobbi Jo Carrigan's boss by the sheriff and Fort "began a course of conduct designed and intended to sexually abuse Carrigan".

Saline county Sheriff Keith Brown said they have turned it over to their insurance company. He had no comment on the matter.

The suit also claims Fort remained in a position as school board president while remaining "in a position of control over Carrigan," as well as being her supervisor at the sheriff's office. And, that Fort "engaged in aggravated criminal sexual abuse of Bobbi Jo Carrigan up until September 2010".

"Last week we put this chapter behind us when Mr. Fort was sentenced and now it's here we go again," said Harrisburg Superintendent Dennis Smith. "It's like a never ending nightmare for the school district. At this point, I don't know any specifics to comment on."

According to the formal complaint, Carrigan "has suffered injuries of a personal and pecuniary nature" including "the loss of income and a decrease in the enjoyment of life of a permanent nature" due to Fort's actions.

In the second part of the complaint, parents of Bobbi Jo, Chris and Karla Carrigan claim they "suffered a loss of their daughter's society and were required to incur medical care for their daughter".
