Say goodbye to sinking and getting stuck in the grass? Oh, and say hello to TV's Leeza Gibbons. "OK, my friend Leeza wears heels better than anybody I know" says KLTV's Joe Terrell. "I only wear them
But in a world where we encase our cell phones, our sunglasses - we even sell cases to cover our suitcases - do we really need cap covers for our high heels?
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Could it be? Have we found a carpet cleaner that works and is more affordable than similar commercial products?

"It's more for wet spills and to clean carpet," explained our tester, D.J. Charles.

Charles and his partner, Beverly, clean KFVS 12, a job they've done for years. Each week, they rave about this relatively new carpet cleaning system called the Hoover Max Extract. They just added it to their supply closet.

"It's lightweight. It's easy to use. It's easy on the back. It's economical. That's the most important part."

Well, prove it, DJ. We spill some coffee onto a rug. We can see the cleaning solution circulating. It's a heated system that's supposed to also speed up drying time. The double brushes also help lift stains, supposedly.

Just like that, the coffee's gone and we have a shampooed rug, too.

"That's amazing!"

DJ is so sure of this tool, he and Beverly even write on the white part of the rug with a red marker! These cleaners know they'll have to add in a stain-lifter too, but promise that and the sucking action of this Hoover will lift this stain that makes us all cringe.

With some scrubbing action...it's gone!

"The quicker you get up a spot, the quicker it's out. You have something like this around, you can go quick and easy."

They also show us how the stain-lifter combined with the Hoover can shampoo out old dirt stains on the plush gray carpet in our lobby. I try it, too. It's heavier than a normal vacuum, but remember this is a high-dollar carpet cleaning machine. I'm told it also works on bare floors.

"You can use big machines. You can spend a lot of money, but you're going to get the same effect. this is more economical."

The Hoover Max Extract will set you back about $250, but this cleaning crew says it's worth it.

"I'd give it an 'A'."

After all, this machine works well and allows our crew to concentrate on cleaning more important things.  It's a clean sweep for the "A-earning" Hoover Max Extract carpet cleaner on this Does it Work test.  You can find it at Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and Sears.
