LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- A head-on collision Sunday sent three people to the hospital, one of them a Longview police officer. The wreck happened around 8 o'clock Sunday morning in the 52-hundred block of Loop 281 , near the intersection of Birdsong street. Officer Leigh Ann Snyder was driving a police crown victoria with a passenger on board , when she was involved in a head-on crash with a second vehicle. The impact of the crash flipped the patrol unit over on its side, trapping both Snyder and the passenger. Then a spark , and officers noticed smoke and fire on the patrol car, and quickly pressed the jaws of life into action to cut victims out.
"There was a small fire, fire was contained he and the passenger were extracted safely, this is one of the most difficult calls we have to work but everyone did and exceptional job responding , maintained their integrity," says Longview police sergeant David Scott.
Loop 281 was closed to all traffic for several hours while officers investigated the crash scene. The names of the passenger and the second driver have not been released.
