KFVS donates toys to Safe House for Women

Posted: Updated:
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Each year, KFVS 12 selects a non-profit agency in need of our gently-used toys featured in Lauren Keith's "Does it Work Toy Testers" series.   This year, we dropped off several boxes of toys to Safe House for Women in Cape Girardeau.

The women's shelter is in great need of all kinds of donations, such as toiletries, cleaning supplies and even cold medicines.

The director says many children stay at the shelter; some who come in the middle of the night as their mothers flee to the shelter.  Linda Garner says the toys will bring comfort to the children year-round.

"We have a lot of children who stay with us year-round, some of whom have their birthday while they're with us. So this can help then, too, and we can use them in many ways for the kids who stay with us in shelter.
