CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

There's a "whole lotta shakin' goin' on" inside Ms. Katrina Tinsley's fourth grade class at Nell Holcomb school. We poured in cold chocolate milk into the special Slushy Magic cup along with the special ice cubes that are supposed to slushify any drink.

The makers claim magic ice cubes you can refreeze and re-use will turn your cold drink into a slushy treat.

"I don't know. It's not like the one I get at Sonic," said student Hallie Stein.

No, it's not. Problem is we had trouble getting these cubes to freeze. So, our chocolate slushy is more like a chocolate shake, but still tasty.

However, the special cubes left behind a bad after-taste in one student's mouth.

"I could taste salt left behind by the cubes.  I'd still drink it, but it was different," said student Jacob Fitzpatrick.

The slushy cup also leaves behind a small mess.  That got us thinking what would happen if we used carbonated drinks like the makers say you can.

I did this part of the test on my own. I wasn't going to leave the teacher with another mess. I found, if you follow the directions, it's ok. The drink did turn into a slushy, but leaked everywhere!

Ms. Tinsley and I agree at ten bucks a cup, parents with multiple kids would spend a lot to make sure everyone can have a treat. Still, it's a lot of fun.

"I think it's a great way to get their hands on a fun project. I don't think it worked completely, but it's still fun.  I'd give it a C," said Ms. Tinsley.

While it's easier to grab a slushy through the drive-thru, this $10 product does work for the most part. It shakes up an average grade 'C' on this Does it Work test.
