Carbondale to participate in drug discount program

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The city of Carbondale announced a new, free prescription drug discount program.

Nine pharmacies in Carbondale will participate in the National League of Cities prescription discount card program.

It is free to anyone who wants to use it and participants save an average of 23 percent off the retail cost of medication not covered by insurance.

Participants can pick up a card at any of the participating pharmacies, city hall, the Carbondale Public Library, Chamber of Commerce office, or at the student center at SIU beginning Jan. 10.

The National League of Cities or any participating do not receive any revenue.

If your pet takes human medication, you can use the discount card to buy those drugs.

You can find the list of participating pharmacies at Carbondale's City Hall.
