CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau joins the fight against a chronic unpredictable disease.

Some 350 people plus countless volunteers walked towards a cure for Multiple Sclerosis at Capaha Park Sunday afternoon.

They're not only raising money to fight the disease, but also awareness.

About 400,000 Americans have MS and every week another 200 people are diagnosed, according to the National MS Society.

Symptoms often go undetected. MS can cause blurry vision, poor coordination, tremors, and numbness.

"It's absolutely important that everybody support this chronic devastating disease and hopefully we have a cure," said Dr. Jagannadha R. Avasarala.

Tonight on Heartland News at 10, hear more from patients fighting the disease.
