LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Many of us have smart phones these days and for the most part, the audio that comes out is fairly good. The 'Music Bullet' is suppose to make that sound even bigger and better. The manufacturer also touts that although the speaker is small, once expanded This week I 'Try It Before You Buy It.'

The 'Music Bullet' runs on rechargeable batteries that are suppose to keep a charge up to 7 hours. You just attach the included USB cable and plug into your computer to charge. That first charge should be done for about 7 or 8 hours. Once charged up fully, you plug in the audio line from the 'Music Bullet' to your digital device and you're ready to go!

I tested it out listening to several different songs I have on my iphone and the sound quality wasn't all that bad in its standard speaker mode. Keep in mind the 'Music Bullet' will only play music as loud as your digital device will go. It doesn't have a volume switch of its own. The product also claims to have 'kickin' bass' quality as well in its expanded mode. In order to test that claim I changed my music selection to a dance tune and listened for several minutes. I really didn't notice that much of a difference in the 'bass' mode compared to the regular speaker mode, however, it did have a slightly lower tone.

After completing the sound tests I found that the 'Music Bullet', in my opinion, is a decent external speaker for your smart phone, ipod or computer. Just don't expect it to sound as good as expensive stereo speakers.

We purchased the 'Music Bullet' at a local Walgreens store for $15. You can find them online for around $20 with some web sites offering a buy one, get one free promotion.
