MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says they arrested two people during the first week of June that were indicted by the McCracken County Grand Jury in May.

Corey Phillips, 18, was arrested and charged with first degree trafficking a controlled substance.

Lisa Bland, 51, of Paducah was arrested and charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

On Thursday, June 7, the sheriff's department says Phillips was arrested on an indictment warrant for trafficking controlled substances in the first degree. The sheriff's department says Phillips allegedly sold methadone doses to a person acting under the supervision of detectives, during an investigation.

According to the sheriff's department, on Sunday, June 10, Bland of Paducah was arrested and charged with 18 separate counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, otherwise known as "doctor shopping."

Detectives with the drug division began an investigation  about Bland after they received a tip from the public. During the course of the investigation, detectives got records and spoke with numerous physicians about Bland. The investigation showed that on a minimum of 18 occasions, Bland had fraudulently gotten different controlled substances from area doctors and pharmacies.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says Bland's illegal activities go back at least two years.
