CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

It was 47-years ago that Missouri's oldest missing person's case began unraveling.

And Wednesday there'll be a special event to mark the occasion.

Beth Ann Gill was just a toddler when she vanished on June 13, 1965.

Her family says the little girl disappeared while playing in the yard of her home on South Lorimar in Cape Girardeau.

There's been a lot of speculation as to what happened, and several grown women have come forward thinking they may be that missing young girl, but so far those leads have gone nowhere.

However, Gill's family hasn't lost hope that they will someday find Beth Ann.

"Every time it seems we have come to a dead end, another door opens," said Beth Ann's Sister Martha Hamilton.

"Right now we have two things going on," said Hamilton. "I have a group that I was referred to by the national center, and they are doing their investigation. It's a group of 36 people. The name of the group is MJA Inc. Investigators. And we have another individual that's come forward and offered DNA as a possibility, as Elizabeth."

Wednesday friends and family plan to gather and remember the two-year old girl with an event hosted by Beth's sister Martha.

Friends are invited to attend Wednesday night's service. It's at 5 p.m. at the El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.
