LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Summer months are a great time to spend as much time as possible enjoying outdoor activities with the family. But when the heat and humidity start to rise, outdoor activities may not be the favorite option. One solution might be to take in a movie and it's even better when the movie is free!

Rave Cinemas in Stonybrook is currently running their 'Free Family Film Festival' through the first weekend of August.

"We have it every Monday and Thursday at 10 am," says Rave manager Justin Bickell. "The doors open at 9:30am and it's free to the public."

All movies are kid friendly and rated G or PG.

'We're showing 'Journey 2', we're showing 'Yogi Bear', things of that nature."

Discounted or free movies are also being offered this Summer at the Oldham 8 Theaters in La Grange as well as in Southern Indiana at the New Albany 16 cinemas. Louisville's Cinemark Theaters are also offering a family film festival. You can call the box office or check the theater's web sites for more information and for show times. Most of the family film festivals are running now through the first part of August. Make sure to also check online for special coupons for discounts at the concession stand!
