A fire in Oran destroyed a 2-story house on Tuesday morning. According to the Oran Fire Department, it happened at 4:05 a.m. at 907 highway W, which is right in the middle of town. Firefighters
No one was living in the home at the time of the time. Fire crews tell Heartland News that the family had just moved out.
ELKVILLE, IL (KFVS) -
An Elkville woman is arrested following a head-on crash in Jackson County.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened on Elkville Blacktop Road east of the town of Elkville at 9:06 p.m. Saturday.
Troopers say Lori Helmer's car hit an on-coming van driven by 62-year-old Anita Kreid of Dowell head on.
Kreid's passengers, 61-year-old Charles Kreid and two children ages 8 and 13 were wearing seat belts and sustained only minor injuries.
Helmer also sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to a Carbondale hospital for treatment.
Troopers say Helmer was then charged for driving under the influence of drugs.
