UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -
The early blooms on the peach trees resulted in peaches maturing much earlier at places like Flamm Orchards in Union County.
"The trees bloomed out probably a couple weeks earlier then we'd like to see them," said MIke Flamm of Flamm Orchards. "Most of the time you'll average out on your temperatures and you can get closer to back on schedule. But it seemed like it was so warm in March, even April and may that things kept progressing."
Now the big question is will Mother Nature keep things interesting this fall with the apple crop.
Right now there's concern the apples may mature too early for good color on the fruit.
Some farmers tell Heartland News that the drought like conditions in Southern Illinois are starting to stress out some crops already planted in the field and hope rain is in the forecast to complete soybean planting.
