CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Lawmakers say they feel Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's going back on his word.

Rep. Mike Bost says he and other legislators voted for a cigarette tax increase and other legislation as a trade off for keeping southern Illinois facilities open.

But they say the governor's not holding up his end of the deal.

Yesterday it was announced plans were finalized to shut down Tamms, IYC Murphysboro and the Carbondale Glass House.

"Some votes we took were with the agreement these facilities would stay open, if the governor proceeds with this - he's gone back on his word," said Rep. Bost.

"There's other places to cut," said Rep. Brandon Phelps. "There's one thing we can cut to save about $50-90 million - that's get rid of CMS."

CMS is Central Management Services. Phelps says he plans to look at shutting down the agency that oversees state property and payments.
