MINER, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau man has been arrested after several homes and 11 vehicles were broken into early Thursday morning near Miner.

Curtis P. Williams, Jr., 20, of Cape Girardeau was charged with property damage, felony stealing and eight counts of misdemeanor stealing.

A person confronted Williams near a home north of Miner early Thursday morning, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

After being confronted, Williams ran and hid in a nearby cornfield, leaving behind his bicycle at the home.

Scott County Sheriff's deputies, the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Miner Police Department found Williams and evidence that he may be involved in stealing from nearby homes.

According to Sheriff Rick Walter, eleven vehicles had been broken into and multiple items stolen.

Sheriff Rick Walter says the majority of stolen property was recovered from the suspect and the general area.

Williams remains in custody in the Scott County Jail on $1,000 cash only bond.
