A man is accused of driving under the influence and causing a southwestern Illinois crash that killed the other driver.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that prosecutors in Madison County charged 41-year-old Roger Stryker of rural Worden with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
Authorities say Stryker was driving on Illinois Route 4 early March 25 when his sport utility vehicle crossed into the path of an oncoming car driven by 26-year-old Allen Wempe of Staunton. Wempe died at the scene.
Stryker's vehicle went down an embankment, and he was rescued seriously injured before it burst into flames.
Stryker did not return a telephone message left by The Associated Press at his home. Online court records do not show whether he has an attorney.
