DIEHLSTADT, MO (KFVS) -

Three weeks ago, a tornado ripped through Diehlstadt in Scott County.

The EF2 twister killed a man and his two adult sons. It also ripped off roofs and destroyed buildings all over town.

Now, the residents and volunteers continue to pick up the pieces.

People in Diehlstadt say they are making progress.

Residents tell our crew that while some of the residents had to start from scratch, others are completing the clean-up and getting more done every day.

People we talked to say they're proud of the progress they've made so far - but there is much more to be done.

"We had people coming here and got it done, today was basically the final day of it and everything is getting back to normal," said Jeff Gates.

"You just have to look around," said Michael Pemberton. "The way everything was, within three or four days … we're good. Everybody coming together, we're good."

Next weekend, CJ's Bar and Grill will host a benefit for the town's recovery.

Organizers hope to raise enough money for a severe weather warning system.

If you want to donate or get in on the good time, just call CJ's Bar and Grill.
