PIEDMONT, MO (KFVS) -

A man considered armed and dangerous by the Missouri Highway Patrol was taken into custody late Thursday night.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper Clark Parrott, Billy J. Hancock was arrested at a home near Highway 34 around 10 p.m. Thursday. Hancock was taken into custody after about 20 to 25 troopers, sheriff's deputies and other agents surrounded the home.

Hancock went willingly and did not resist arrest, Parrott said.

The homeowners are being questioned. Parrott previously said anyone found to be hiding Hancock or allowing him to escape would be prosecuted.

Hancock ran from troopers after a traffic stop in Wayne County on Tuesday, Parrott said. Hancock, 50, is reportedly well known to law enforcement and was the focus of a manhunt several weeks ago.
