SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -
Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting death of a Sikeston teen on Saturday.
Kevin Recardo King, 29, of Sikeston was arrested on a Scott County warrant for first degree murder and armed criminal action.
After an investigation, police discovered King was hiding out at a residence on Landis Drive in Cape Girardeau.
Officers responded to this address in Cape Girardeau around noon on Sunday. Sikeston's Special Operations Group surrounded the residence and Kevin King was taken into custody.
King remains in custody awaiting his arraignment with a $150,000 cash only bond.
According to Lt. Jim McMillen of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, officers were called to the 800 block of William Street around 2:15 Saturday morning to a report of shots fired.
When police arrived, they found 19-year-old Deangelo Williams who had been hit numerous times.
According to family members, Williams was shot five times at the corner of William Street and Lanning Avenue.
Family members say Williams was a father of two and had one on the way.
They're devastated to say the least.
"It hurted me," said the victim's cousin Dorrene Scott. "It hurted me because he don't bother nobody. This was a senseless killing. He didn't bother anybody. He stayed to himself and he loved being with his family."
Another cousin says Williams was just like a brother to her.
McMillen says the victim was severely injured and air lifted to a nearby hospital. Around 6:40 a.m., the hospital told police the teen had died.
Anyone with any further information is asked to contact Sikeston DPS at (573) 471-4711 or CRIMESTOPPERS at (573) 471-1500.
Tips may remain anonymous and anyone with information leading to a conviction of the shooter or shooters will be eligible for a cash reward.
