MADISON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

There are new details on the Madison County forest fire that has burned 48 acres.

The fire is located just west of Higdon, Missouri, approximately seven miles north and east of Fredericktown, Missouri.

Bill Paxton with the Mark Twain National Forest says the fire under is 100 percent contained.

Crew of more than 20 people will remain to put out hotspots and make sure the fire is out should the wind pick up.

A couple of firefighters suffered from minor heat exhaustion. They were treated on the scene. No other injuries have been reported.

According to the US Forest Service, the fire burned about 30 acres of forest in the Higdon area, not far from Fredericktown.

The fire burned the old historic Higdon School, a trailer and five cars.

This fire was caused by a spark from mowing equipment hitting a rock.

It happened in the Mark Twain National Forest, and some of the fire was also reportedly on private land.

Full control on the fires is projected for mid-week, given current fire weather conditions and available resources.
