CHICAGO (AP) - A pro-gun group is sending kids to shooting camp with a payout from Chicago's annual gun buy-back event.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/MhqXuI ) that 60 guns and several BB guns were submitted to police by the Champaign-based gun group Guns Save Life during the gun buy-back last week.
Officials say the group received $6,240 in gifts cards in exchange for the guns.
Youth will attend a shooting camp hosted the by National Rifle Association in Bloomington to learn gun safety and how to shoot responsibly.
The group says it will spend most of the money on ammunition and bolt-action rifles.
Officials say more than 5,000 guns were collected at the buy-back program, in exchange for $100 MasterCard gift cards for each gun and $10 cards for BB guns.
