PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -
One man is dead and another taken into custody after police say a fight led to murder early Friday.
Michael C. Russian, 36, was charged Sunday with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Police were called about 3:30 a.m. Sunday after someone saw a man pushing a shopping cart containing what appeared to be a body in the area of 6th and Burnett Streets.
Officers say they found Russian trying to dispose of the body of 25-year-old Adam L. Bullock.
Det. Sgt. Brian Laird says Russian and Bullock apparently knew each other and were involved in an apparent altercation over a woman about 4 a.m. Friday at Russian's home. A fight ensued, and Bullock was killed.
Investigators have not yet determined either man's relationship with the woman.
According to investigators, Russian rolled Bullock's body in a rug and hid it in a storage unit directly behind his apartment in Anderson Court and kept it there until early Sunday morning when he decided to dispose of it.
Police say Russian had pushed the cart with Bullock's body about eight
blocks before police officers found him just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Laird says investigators believe Russian was taking Bullock's body to the river side of the floodwall to dispose of it.
Police say Bullock's family members filed a missing persons report with
the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Saturday evening, saying they
had not seen or heard from Bullock in several days.
An autopsy was conducted Monday in Louisville. Laird says Bullock's body showed signs of blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 443-TELL.
