CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -
Cape Girardeau police have now called off their search for a man hiding out near the river campus.
Police say the suspect is wanted on charges of burglary and domestic assault.
Police tell us the man ran from them as officers tried to arrest him a short time ago.
Search crews focused on an area near the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus off Highway 74 even working with the fire department, using their ladder truck to search for the man.
But we're told they weren't able to find him so they called off their search.
Police say the man fled from them near Ranney Avenue. The man is wanted for first degree burglary and two counts of domestic assault.
He was described as white male, 6-feet tall with a thin build.
