One person is dead following a crash involving a semi and a home.
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -
A Paducah man was hospitalized after his car crashed into a church and a storage building.
It happened just before 1 p.m. on Friday.
A witness told police she saw a car heading east on North 10th Street at H.C. Mathis Drive when the car ran off the road and hit Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 North 10th Street.
The car then reversed, backing across the parking lot and running through a gate at the far end of the parking lot. The car crossed the street and ran through a garage door at Wagner Transportation before coming to rest against a stack of pallets.
When officers arrived, they found the driver, Charles Starks, 68, of North 13th Street, unconscious and unresponsive. Officers pulled Starks from the car and performed CPR until the Paducah Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance arrived. Starks was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment.
Officers said the initial impact with the church caused a wall to bow inward, collapsing the brick on the exterior of the building. The gate on the parking lot and a garage door at Wagner Transportation was damaged.
