SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

Getting into your vehicle in these blistering temperatures can also cause some problems if you're not careful.

During the midday hours the outside and inside of your car is much hotter, which can cause you some pain.

"They don't realize that their door handles will be really hot," said Joshua Duenos with Ward Chrysler. "They go to grab their steering wheel not realizing it's also going to be warm inside. They also don't think about their dash."

Mechanics say you're not the only one feeling the heat.

Your vehicle's air conditioner is feeling the stress of triple digits and isn't going to perform at its coolest until temperatures drop below 100.
