Many emergency officials say many people are taking the heat warnings very serious and are not responding to very
many heat related calls.
Since the heat wave
started, emergency crews geared up and expected to make more calls than they have.
This is especially since
temperatures continue to reach past the 100-degree mark.
"It has surprised me especially this year with the
heat," said Jim Ogden with West Carter County Ambulance. "With the
heat index and the heat being as high as it is, I just knew we would. We even
prepared for it. I'm glad because it's not a fun situation."
Health officials say its crucial people check
on their friends, family and neighbors as temperatures stay in the 100-degree
range.
